Amazon Slashes Whole Foods Prices to Compete Against Walmart and Kroger

Amazon recently implemented a new pricing plan at their newly acquired Whole Foods stores that includes up to 43% price slashing. According to Bloomberg, examples include:

  • the cost of organic Fuji apples have dropped from $3.49/LB to $1.99/LB
  • the cost of organic avocados dropped by eighty cents

This move is a strategy to put more competitive pressure on Walmart and Kroger as well as re-brand the organic giant away from the retailer that takes your “whole paycheck”.
